Friends, through this piece I would like to invite all like-minded friends for mobilizing funds for constructing a roof for an orphanage in Malad West. The
Joanna J Buthello an Orphanage run by  Joanna J Buthello (a retired school teacher)  since last 16 years. (registered  and 12AA and 80G IT exemption.) .
(To construct concrete walls and roof through builder within the budget of Rs.3-4 Lacs).

The brainchild of the same had been my friend Vicky Shah (and his friend Imtiaz Menon) who have planned to build a roof for 65 children with help of a local builder. Getting inspiration for noble cause, I have taken mantle for supporting orphanage and promoting the same through Blogs and noble friends. Land and permissions are readily available and construction shall start as soon funds get mobilized.
“Charity begins at home but should end up there”. The Dharma says-“one tenth of the earnings for charity and social welfare”. I am sure a contribution as small as Rs.100 will outweigh unlimited entertainment expenditure, social gatherings token gifts and unsocial habits like smoking, drinking etc. I consider to support a cause of this nature is a Duty not a charity…..

Quoting from Srimad Bhagwad Gita,

datavyam iti yad danam diyate ’nupakarine
dese kale ca patre ca tad danam sattvikam smrtam
Which means“Charity given out of duty, without expectation of return, at the proper time and place, and to a worthy person is considered to be in the mode of goodness

yat tu pratyupakarartham phalam uddisya va punah
diyate ca pariklistam tad danam rajasam smrtam “
which means - But charity performed with the expectation of some return, or with a desire for fruitive results, or in a grudging mood, is said to be charity in the mode of passion.
Leave aside education for a minute; let us bring in the basic necessities for these children. As said every drop counts, amount doesn’t matter, from Rs.100 onwards anything will suffice, as this is being done right in front of our eyes, it would ensure a meaningful, judicious and transparent expenditure of the same.
